5th – 8th August 2024, Bikaner
A 4-day International Training Programme on ‘Advances in Camel Health, Production, and Technology’ was organized from 5th – 8th August 2024 at ICAR-National Research Center on Camel, Bikaner under the joint aegis of African Asian Rural Development Organization, New Delhi.
Dr. Manoj Nardeo Singh, Secretary General, AARDU emphasised that innovative uses of this animal will help in the development and conservation of this species and NRCC is playing an important role in this direction especially in 2024 which has been declared as the ‘International Year of Camelids’ by United Nations.
Assistant Secretary General Rami Quasth, and Dr. Sanjeev Behera, were also present during the programme.
Special Guest Dr. T.K. Gehlot Former Professor & Head, Department of Surgery, RAJUVAS, Bikaner, in his keynote address highlighted the efforts of AARDU in the selection of participants. He also briefed the latest developments in the field of surgery in camels.
Dr A. Sahoo, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru pointed out various aspects of livelihood and developmental issues of the farming community raising camels in different countries.
Dr. R.K. Sawal, Director, ICAR-NRCC, discussed the importance of increasing camel milk production and its quality through diet. He reviewed the 4-day programme.
85 participants from 19 countries of Africa and Asia attended the programme in online mode.
