National Campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree Plantation Programme was organized at KVK, Sirohi, Rajasthan today.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) ICAR, New Delhi, Chief Guest of the event, briefed about importance of “National Campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree Plantation”. All Krishi Vigyan Kendras (732) across the country are actively involved in the Campaign today, he added. He also emphasized upon strategies to increase production and productivity of millets in coming years. Nutri-Thali, Kitchen Gardening and Biofortified Varieties were highlighted by him on this occasion. Dr. Singh also urged to develop location specific packages of practices for participatory demonstrations with special focus on the need for including small millets.
Shri Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director, IFFCO, New Delhi briefed about importance of Vegetables & Fruits in daily life to maintain nutrition status. He highlighted that support for seed should be ensured so that farmers have choice of various varieties of vegetables at their disposal especially for farm women.
Dr. S. K. Singh, Director, ICAR - Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur briefed about Nutri-Sensitive Agricultural Resources and Innovation (NARI) which is being implemented by all Krishi Vigyan Kendras in convergence mode. Dr. Singh narrated upon celebration of International Year of Millets-2023 and health benefits of millets.
Director of Extension Education, Agriculture University, Jodhpur. State Manager IFFCO, Jaipur and Deputy Director Agricultural, Sirohi stressed upon various points related to nutrition and their role on human health.
Exhibition stalls by Public, Private, NGOs, Entrepreneurs etc. were put up to showcase various useful technologies related to farmers including farm women and rural youth.
Around 250 Seed Packets of Vegetables, 1000 plants of Papaya, Drumstics, Aonla etc. were provided to the participants.
More than 250 participants including 100 farm women and 26 Aganwadi workers along with Heads and SMSs of KVK Sirohi participated in the programme.
