The National Conference on Emerging Issues and Sustainable Strategies in Plant Health Management: A Global Perspective was inaugurated today at Hotel Centre Point, Nagpur. The event was jointly organized by the Indian Phytopathological Society (IPS), New Delhi, and ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur.
The Chief Guest, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, highlighted the importance of sustainable agriculture and plant health management in ensuring food security and environmental stability, also appreciating ICAR-CCRI’s efforts in importing exotic citrus from the USA.
Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), emphasized the need for integrated strategies and international collaboration in addressing plant health challenges. During the programme, Dr. Pathak received the S.P. Raychaudhuri Memorial Award and delivered the memorial award lecture.
Dr Dilip Ghosh, President, IPS, and Director, ICAR-CCRI, accentuated the importance of research and collaboration in tackling plant health issues.
Dr C.D. Mayee, Former Chairman (ASRB); Dr Ravi Khetarpal, Executive Director, APARI, Thailand; Dr K.V. Subbarao, Distinguished Professor, University of California, USA; and Dr R.G. Aggarwal, Founder Chairman, Dhanuka Group, were also present during the programme.
With over 300 national and international delegates, the conference focuses on sustainable plant health management, featuring technical sessions, an Industry-Academia Interface, career guidance for students, and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies. This event aims to advance global research and practices in plant health management, promoting sustainability and resilience in agriculture and ecosystems.
