“Self-Help Groups Mela & Indigenous Cow Exhibition” concludes

The “Self-Help Groups Mela-cum-Exhibition” organized by the Shri Siddhagiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kaneri, Kolhapur, Maharashtra in collaboration with the NABARD from 28th February to 2nd March, 2022 concluded today.

Delivering the valedictory address, the Chief Guest, Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR stressed on scaling the small business opportunities to large and sustainable business models for empowering and developing the SHGs as the Entrepreneurship Models. Dr. Chahal urged the farmers for raring and conserving the various Desi Breeds of Cows which are equally important in the agriculture. Developing a spirit of fair competition for the conservation of Desi Cows Breeds was stressed by Dr. Chahal.

Earlier, in his inaugural address, Shri P.P. Adrushya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji, Chairman, Shri Siddhagiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kaneri, Kolhapur urged the Women folks to scale their food product and business with the involvement of every section of women in the society and replicate their Models / Units in the other areas also.

Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune stated about the development of Agri-mart and Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations for providing the bigger opportunities for the market. The promotion of natural farming and the use of Indigenous Breed for the agricultural activities was stressed by Dr. Lakhan.

Shri Ashutosh Jadhav, AGM, NABARD, Kolhapur, Maharashtra underlined the NABARD’s role in the agriculture development and Schemes for every section of the farmers.

Dr. Ravindra Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Kaneri, Kolhapur outlined the main objective of the Mela and the various business prospects on commodity basis for the SHGs.

More than 20,000 farmers and farm women participated in the programme.
