A capacity building programme (20-21st February, 2014) for implementing the project on National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) for KVKs of Zone-V was organized at Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-V, Hyderabad.
In his address, Dr. N. Sudhakar, ZPD, Zone-V emphasized that NICRA KVKs must undertake NRM interventions for improvement of water harvesting structures for ground water recharge.
Dr. P. Raghava Reddy, former Vice-Chancellor, ANGRAU suggested to understand the situation specific problems according to changing climate and identify and implement problems relevant to climate.
During the session speakers and scientists focused on methodology in conducting demonstrations in NICRA villages, interventions to be followed during different climatic vulnerabilities, planning interventions in relation to climatic vulnerabilities; planning formulation, implementation and documentation of interventions regarding NICRA activities; and Planning interventions in livestock component of NICRA.
Dr. M. Maheswari, Director, CRIDA; Dr. M.R. Hegde, Principal Scientist and Chairman, Resource Management Committee, IIHR, Bangalore; Dr. Y.G. Prasad, Coordinator, TDC-NICRA, CRIDA; Director of Extension, ANGRAU; and Dr. G. Subba Reddy, Former Head, Division of Crop Sciences, CRIDA were present on the occasion.
Participants (26) including Programme Co-ordinators and subject matter specialists from 13 NICRA KVKs of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra participated in the programme.
