The Krishi Vigyan Kendra of ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, North Goa, organized a training on the Scientific Management of Goats today at ICAR-KVK, Old Goa.
Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, highlighted the importance of climate-resilient goat breeds like Konkan Kanyal, Black Bengal, and Tellicherry. He urged the farmers to integrate goat farming with agriculture to generate supplementary income and promote sustainability. Dr Kumar distributed four pairs of Black Bengal goats to four farmers of the North Goa district as part of KVK's frontline demonstration to empower local farmers.
The training provided theoretical insights and hands-on experiences, equipping farmers to succeed in sustainable, profitable goat farming.
A total of 18 farmers, including two women and 16 men, participated and gained practical skills and knowledge to improve their goat farming practices.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, Dr N. Bommayasamy, Shri Rahul Kumar, and Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati.
