Training for Senior Officials of Tamil Nadu at ICAR-IISWC

7th - 9th May 2024, Dehradun

ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun organized a short-term training programme for senior officials of the State Level Nodal Agency of Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency, Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 7th - 9th May 2024. The short-term training programme was organized under the provisions of PMKSY, a centrally sponsored programme of the State.

Dr. M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC urged the trainee officers to share the knowledge and technologies learned with other colleagues of their department for augmented results.

Dr. Charan Singh, Head, Department of Human Resource Development and Social Science, ICAR-IISWC emphasised the importance of forest and horticulture-based alternate land uses.

Dr. M. Muruganandam, Principal Scientist and Head (PME & KM Unit), ICAR-IISWC spoke about the various food production and livelihood avenues including fisheries, livestock-based, and advanced technologies.  

The programme focused on integrated watershed management, watershed development committee formation, climate-resilient agricultural techniques, detailed project report preparation for rainfed areas, water resources management, soil and water conservation measures, and improved agriculture production.

A total of 20 participants attended the training programme.
