National Technology Day was celebrated by ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow today in collaboration with the Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh with the theme “School to Startups- Igniting Young Minds to Innovate”.
National Technology Day in India has historical implications and is observed on May 11 every year to commemorate the attainments and developments in the field of science and technology. This day marks the successful nuclear tests conducted in Pokhran by Govt. of India in 1998. Observing National Technology Day is an important step towards creating awareness about day-to-day developing technologies and adopting new techniques and innovations made by our scientists, engineers, and researchers.
On this occasion, 115 students of class 9th to 12th from different government schools of Lucknow visited the Ganga aquarium and farm aiming to promote scientific thinking in the daily life of the students and solving the curious questions and experiments that arise in the minds of the students.
Dr. U. K. Sarka, Director, ICAR – NBFGR, while interacting with students spoke about the role of technology in our daily life and how technology has increased the output in fisheries and aquaculture. He also highlighted the career prospects for the students in Fisheries Science and enlighten the young minds to inculcate scientific temper.
On this occasion, a QR code embedded workbook was released on “Creativity and innovation” for igniting young minds to innovate and think to create startups.
