7th Zonal Committee Meeting of ARYA project organized

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur, Rajasthan organized the “7th Zonal Committee Meeting of Attracting & Retaining Youth in Agriculture (ARYA) for 10 KVKs (including 7 KVKs from Rajasthan and 3 KVKs from Haryana)” today

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur, Rajasthan emphasized upon generation of employment and regular flow of income stream for the rural youth. The reasons for the youth’s lack of interest in agriculture are ow profitability of agriculture, drudgery of farm operations, poor quality of life in the rural area and rapidly shrinking size of land holdings are the most significant among them. Dr. Singh also applauded that ecological balances are of paramount importance and need to be addressed. He expressed that reduction of migration of youth from rural area to urban area can be done, if  sufficient employment opportunities are available in the villages.

Dr. Ishwar Singh, Director of Extension Education, Agriculture University, Jodhpur expressed that monitoring and feedback mechanism of the project is to be emphasized by the convergence of opportunities available in different schemes, so that generation of a regular stream of income could be ensured.
 Heads and concerned Subject Matter Specialists of 10 KVKs of Rajasthan & Haryana actively participated. Centre wise progress (2022) and workplan (2023) were presented. Critical comments were given by the committee members for modification and improvement in various methodologies and approaches, working style, addressing various issues etc.
