8th Annual Review Meeting of Network Project on Conservation of Lac Insect Genetic Resources organized
29 - 30 December, 2020, Ranchi
The ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand virtually organized the “8th Annual Review Meeting of Network Project on Conservation of Lac Insects Genetic Resources” from 29th to 30th December, 2020.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering), ICAR applauded the Network Project’s achievements. The DDG stressed on conservation of lac insects of the country due to its livelihood and export potential. He urged to lay emphasis in the next plan on integration of lac with agriculture to enhance farmers’ income.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. K.K. Singh, ADG (FE), ICAR urged for completing the survey of the remaining Districts in the next plan. He also emphasized on introducing lac cultivation in potential areas identified under the Project.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. K.K. Sharma, Project Co-ordinator, NP-CLIGR & Director, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi, Jharkhand outlined the achievements and action taken report on the proceedings of the 7th Annual Review Meeting.
One Bulletin on “Scientific lac cultivation on Cajanus cajan” (in Assamese) by AAU, Jorhat and 1 Book on “Handbook on Lac Insect host plants in Kerala” by KFRI, Thrissur were released by the dignitaries during the occasion.
A total of 50 delegates including PIs, Co-PIs, RAs / SRFs, etc., participated in the meeting.
