Annual Review Meeting of KVKs under TSP/SCSP

ICAR-Agricultural Technology Applications Research Institute, Zone-II, Jodhpur, organised the “Annual Review Meeting of 24 KVKs under ‘Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP)’, and 15 KVKs under ‘Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP)’, of Zone - II” today.

Dr. J P Mishra, Director of ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur, accentuated the importance of TSP and SCSP programs for mainstreaming Scheduled tribes and Scheduled caste communities He emphasised the need for exclusive utilization of allocated funds for socio-economic upliftment and community asset creation. Livestock-related interventions, such as backyard poultry and goatry, are more suitable for landless/marginal/small landholding farmers for livelihood security and sustainable income. Crop-based interventions should be optimized to increase productivity and income diversification. Participatory planning is crucial for equitable, stable, and sustainable development of the Tribal and SC population. He emphasised the need for interventions to create supplementary income sources, direct benefit activities for individuals, and community assets.

Dr. Ishwar Singh, Director, DEE, AU, Jodhpur urged that intervention under these programmes must be need-based, and regular follow-up for meaningful outcomes is very necessary.

Dr. Sudesh Kumar, Director, DEE, SKNAU, Jobner, emphasised that there is a need to intervene in the IFS-based approach for a fruitful outcome and measurable impact.

Dr. Subhash Chandra, Director, DEE, SKNAU, Bikaner, expressed that KVKs work in a dynamic system their role in the development of the SC & ST population is very important.

Dr. RA Kaushik, Director, DEE, MPUAT, Udaipur, emphasised that box thinking is very much needed for interventions to improve the livelihood of SC & ST population along with market and media management for proper and efficient utilization of TSP/SCSP funds by KVKs.

A total of 24 KVKs implementing TSP and 15 KVKs implementing SCSP presented their progress for the year 2022-23 and Action Plan for the Year 2023-24 during the meeting.
