ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Kausalyaganga established an Aquaculture Field School at Kalong Kapil, Bagibari, Kamrup Metro, Assam today.
The Aquaculture Field School would serve as a knowledge centre of aquaculture technologies in the farmers’ field for the benefit of the people of Assam and adjoining states. More than fifty participants including scientists, extension officials, bankers and farmers attended the event.
The aquaculture field school was inaugurated by Dr Pramoda Kumar Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA. He said that the Aquaculture Field School at Kalong Kapili would serve as a centre to provide technical information including improved varieties of Jayanti Rohu, improved catla, soil and water parameters etc. to the farmers of nearby areas of Assam and other neighbouring states.
The scientists of ICAR-CIFA had an interactive discussion with the extension officials, community resource persons, bankers and progressive farmers.
The participants visited the farm facilities of the school including farm ponds, soil and water testing laboratory, FRP hatcheries, training hall, conference hall etc.
