Augmenting livelihoods of Aqua Farmers in Assam

The ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Gauhati University, organised a pivotal awareness-cum-input distribution programme for aqua farmers in Tamulpur village, Baksa district, Assam. The event, part of the NEH component, aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of fish farmers by promoting conservation aquaculture.

Dr. U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, said that the initiative seeks to boost aquaculture production while ensuring sustainable fisheries management, marking a significant step towards the empowerment of local fish farmers.

The programme featured quality seed and feed distribution, expert lectures on aquaculture practices, feed formulation, hatchery management, and germplasm conservation.

A total of 54 participants attended the programme.
