ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Assam under the visionary leadership of Dr. Ch. Srinivasa, Rao, Director, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute organized a awareness-cum-input distribution programme for “Empowering farmers and rural youth on biofertilizer application and organic farming” in collaboration with ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganism, Mau, Uttar Pradesh under NEH component.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural session, Shri Rajen Saikia, Project officer, DRR&CCA, North East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS) highlighted the importance of bio fertilizer and organic farming for sustainable agriculture, benefits of organic farming etc.

The inaugural session was followed by the technical session where scientists and farmers actively participated in the discussion w.r.t. bio fertilizer application and promotion of organic farming in north east region.
Farmers were given small farm equipment including sprayers for spraying liquid organic solutions, irrigation pipes. Besides, input in the form of Trigoderma, Pseudmonas, organic manuare were given to the benefitiaries.
Around 200 farmers from Dhemaji, north Lakhimpur and Majuli districts have participated in the programme.
