The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) Visakhapatnam Research Centre, in collaboration with the ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA), Chennai, organized two awareness programs on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and White Faeces Syndrome (WFS) for shrimp farmers in Kajuluru and A.V. Nagaram villages in East Godavari district (now Kakinada district) on March 6-7, 2025. These sessions, held under the ICAR's All India Network Project on Antimicrobial Resistance (AINP-AMR), aimed to raise awareness among farmers about the critical issue of antimicrobial resistance.
Shri K. Karunakar Rao, District Fisheries Officer, Kakinada, attended as the guest of honour.
The experts delivered a talk on ‘Antibiotic Residues and Antimicrobial Resistance in Shrimp Aquaculture,’ and also presented a report on ‘White Faeces Syndrome in Shrimp Aquaculture.’
Eighty farmers participated, actively engaging in discussions on disease management and biosecurity.
