Capacity Building Program on "Technology demonstrations for enhancing resilience"

A two-day Capacity Building Program (13-14, August 2022) on "Technology demonstrations for enhancing resilience" was inaugurated here today. The programme was organized by Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA at ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad.

Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management) in his inaugural address, said this capacity building program will impart knowledge on experiences obtained in this NICRA project, and also described KVKs are back bone of agriculture sector and appreciated the work done during the pandemic situation. He stressed to learn from past experience and plan for feature climatic interventions by understanding the requirements of farmers and prepare and provide the solutions.

Dr. V.K. Singh Director, ICAR-CRIDA in his opening remarks appreciated the work of KVKs and urged to collect the experiences on established custom hiring centers, seed bank, farm ponds and see the impacts under this project. He also explained how watershed technology popularized in the KVKs. He also asked the participants to do on line practice on data collection formats, analysis and reports generation.

Earlier, Dr. JVNS Prasad, Project Leader, TDC-NICRA, in his welcome address briefed about the objectives of the capacity building programme.

Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director ATARI, Pune, Dr.S.R.K.Singh, Director  ATARI, Jabalpur, Dr.J.V.Prasad, Director ATARI, Hyderabad, Dr.D.R.S.Reddy,   Nodal officer, Banglore, Scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, Senior Scientists and Heads of 42 NICRA KVKs, NICRA Co-PIs and SRFs of respective KVKs were present in the session.

Also Nearly 70 students of Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) program representing seven universities were also present in the session.
