ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, Regional Centre, Kolkata, organised a capacity-cum-training on 'Know your LRI Cards' for optimizing crop planning for sustainable livelihood in the Jamolai micro-watershed of Jujomura block, Sambalpur district, Odisha, funded by the World Bank, today.
Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head, NBSS&LUP, RC, Kolkata and Regional Coordinator, Rejuvenating Watershed for Agricultural Resilience, through Innovative Development, Odisha, briefed the journey of ICAR-NBSS&LUP team for the last two years making LRI cards starting from base map preparation to ground-truthing and wet chemistry analysis and finally GIS-based operations towards deriving desired LRI outputs.
Dr. S. Bandyopadhyay, PI, REWARD, Odisha, demonstrated the easy comprehension of LRI cards to the trainee officials. LRI cards will be provided to the farming community in Odiya format shortly.
Dr. S. Srichandan, Head, ICAR-KVK, Sambalpur, Shri. H. Seth, Project Director, Watershed Development Sambalpur and Dr. T. Nanda, ADSC and PI, REWARD Programme, Sambalpur were present in the programme.
The programme has ended with high notes from the house with an aspiration for enhancing the livelihood of the farming community many-fold on the way forward.
Around 75 participants including 45 farmers from Jujomura Block were present in the programme.
