Central Zone Sports Meet 2024 of ICAR commenced with enthusiasm on 4th March 2025 at Tatya Tope Stadium, Bhopal.
Dr Anil Kothari, Director General, MPCOST, Bhopal, inaugurated the event, lauding ICAR's integration of sports with science and emphasizing the importance of such events in showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of its staff.
Dr P.K. Das, Assistant Director General, Commercial Crops, reiterated the importance of sports in daily life and expressed pride in hosting the event at the state-of-the-art Tatya Tope Stadium. He acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team and committees for their dedication. The inaugural session included the release of a souvenir and the start of the 800M men's race.
Dr S.P. Datta, Director, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal, emphasized the importance of sportsmanship.
Dr Aniket Sanyal, Director, NISHAD, Bhopal, also graced the event.
Around 500 participants from 14 ICAR institutes competed in various sports, including football, kabaddi, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, cycling, cricket, carrom, and chess, as well as athletic events like high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and relay races.
The event concluded on 7th March 2025 with a closing address by Shri Dev Kumar Meena, Asian Champion in Pole Vault. He commended the players and expressed happiness in awarding the winners.
Dr C.R. Mehta, Director, ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal, urged participation in sports to foster good relationships and a positive working atmosphere.
The event was coordinated by Dr R. Elanchezhian (Organizing Secretary) along with Dr R.S. Chaudhary (Co-Organizing Secretary), and Shri Ganesh Meena (Co-Organizing Secretary).
