CGIAR’s EiA project team visits ICAR-CRIDA

The Excellence in Agronomy project team of The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research including, Dr. Virender Kumar, EiA Regional Lead, IRRI, Dr. Peter Craufurd, CSISA Lead, CIMMYT and Dr. Andrew Mc Donald from Cornell University, visited ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, today to review the progress and way forward about the activity ‘Prioritizing Agronomy in Changing Environment’ an initiative under EiA.

CGIAR’s EiA project team visits ICAR-CRIDA

Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA briefed about the work done related to PAiCE. He highlighted the importance of PAiCE in the prioritization of potential agronomic adaptation options that could effectively counter key climatic challenges and production constraints against important crop commodities in EIGP which enable the administrators to identify potential investment options in Eastern IGP. Dr. Singh provided valuable resources for the pre-population of the PAiCE tool from various published sources.

Dr. Peter Craufurd, emphasised documentation of the entire process of PAiCE in EIGP which will be useful for other stakeholders and also give the way forward and plan of action.

Dr. Andrew McDonald provided valuable input about climatic challenges.

Later, ICAR-CRIDA team and the EiA project team discussed the implementation of PAiCE in Eastern Indo-Gangetic Plains (EIGP) in India.
