Coordination Committee Meeting for Addressing Researchable issues of agricultural sector in Bihar organized

The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar organized the State Level Coordination Committee Meeting” today.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Shri N. Saravana Kumar, Secretary, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Department of Agriculture, Government of Bihar emphasized on the re-imagining of agriculture sector with the focus on climate change impact, water conservation & crop diversification, natural resource sustainability, production centric to producer-centric agriculture. He also highlighted the need of establishing the NABL Laboratory both at the University and ICAR Institute to boost agriculture trade and export.

In his address, Dr. Rameswar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Bihar emphasized on developing the livestock-based farming system for smallholders in Bihar.

Dr. R.K. Sohane, Vice-Chancellor, Bihar Agricultural University, Bihar stressed on the representation of Research Institutes, Universities and State Government for policy framework meetings for the state.

Dr. R.C. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Bihar highlighted the potential technologies developed by the University for the farmers of flood prone areas of Bihar.

Earlier, Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director ICAR-RCER, Patna, Bihar delivered the welcome address.

The CGIAR Centres working in Bihar namely CIMMYT and BISA along with the senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities also virtually participated in the meeting.
