Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, DARE, Government of India, and Director General, ICAR, delivered the ‘Convocation Address’ at the 22nd Convocation of the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalya, Mohanpur today. He highlighted the role of BCKV and its students in Agricultural Education in India and abroad over more than 50 years. He emphasised the need for redesigning Agricultural Education in India and gave credit to the farmers of India for their untiring efforts in food production not only to feed 140 million of people in India but also to supply food for 15 countries dependent on India free of cost.
BCKV honoured three luminaries of agricultural science with Bidhan Krishi Ratna to Dr. Arnab Pain, a noted alumnus; Bidhan Krishi Udyogpati to Dr. Madan Mohan Dawn, a noted agricultural entrepreneur and Bidhan Krishak Shiromani to Shri Deepak Kumar Mandal, a noted farmer of Nadia district.
In the 22nd Convocation 903 graduate degrees, 1020 postgraduate degrees and 323 doctoral degrees were awarded.
