Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) inaugurated the newly constructed Dr. B.R. Ambedkar boys’ hostel at ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi today.
Dr. Pathak emphasised the importance of creating an institution of high priority in the entire Eastern region of the country and said that the institute will be a torchbearer in the field of cutting-edge agricultural biotechnological research and education. He stressed the initiation of the 2nd green revolution in the Eastern region of the country. He emphasised that agricultural institutions like IIAB will play a pivotal role in agricultural biotechnology research and education to ensure the challenges including climate change-induced stresses and increasing food demand being faced to feed the burgeoning population.
Dr. D.K. Yadav, Assistant Director General (Seed) was present during the inauguration.
Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, IIAB highlighted that the increased enrollment of new students will help to develop quality human resources for higher education.
The Directors, Joint Directors, scientists, and officials from Ranchi hub or IARI Mega University were also present.
The hostel has a total of 80 single bedrooms equipped with all the modern amenities.
