Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated ICAR-International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, Collaborative Project on ‘Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia' today in the presence of Dr. U.S. Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), and Dr. Peter Craufurd, Project Leader, CIMMYT.
Dr. A. K. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, Dr. B. R. Kamboj, VC, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Dr. Rajarshi Roy Burman, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension) were present during the programme.
The CSISA has established a MEL Cell at ICAR HQ to address farmers' challenges, including declining yield growth and rising labour, energy, and input costs. The cell will have a convergence platform at ICAR HQ at the state level, and a working platform at the district level.
The Landscape Diagnostic Survey framework incorporates this study, analysing farmers' experiences and revealing insights into technology acceptance across various states and districts.
The Research Advisory Committee has endorsed a paradigm shift in extension research, emphasizing data-driven accountability and feedback loops.
