Thiru A. Dinesh, a B. Tech graduate, started helping his father in agriculture and dairy farming after graduating. He sought guidance from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Puducherry to establish a poultry farm. He received training from KVK scientists under the ARYA-Attracting and Retaining Youth in Agriculture project followed by an exposure visit to Tamil Nadu University for Veterinary and Animal Sciences in 2019. Dinesh started his poultry unit with the high-in-demand country chicken.
Dinesh received a 100-egg capacity incubator from the KVK in 2020 as part of the ARYA Project. The incubator expanded Dinesh's poultry farming unit, allowing him to sell excess chicks and earn an annual income of Rs.16,210 in 2021. Later, he started a quail farm with 25 chicks, generating profits. A man started a quail farm with 25 chicks, generating profits. In 2022, he purchased 1000 chicks and reared them to marketable age. He sold adult birds, earning Rs.2,80,000. The eggs laid by the adult bird were incubated in his incubator and developed chicks for subsequent cycles. In 2023, he trained three entrepreneurs and expanded his Quail unit by constructing 12,000-capacity egg incubators and expanded his quail unit.
Dinesh, established a sales outlet in Lingareddipalayam, Puducherry, selling eggs, chicks, and value-added products from quail eggs and meat. He also fabricates incubators for needy farmers. He expanded his business with three trained entrepreneurs, earning a gross income of Rs. 6, 22,700 per annum, with the help of KVK-Puducherry.
