The 3rd MDP on “Implementation of ABS Regulations in Agricultural Research” organized by the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad through video conferencing from 7th to 10th July, 2020 concluded today.
The MDP was organized in collaboration with the UNDP and Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), New Delhi.
During the valedictory function, Dr. Vibha Ahuja, Chief General Manager, BCIL, New Delhi interacted with the participants.
Dr. V.B. Mathur, Chairman, National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), Chennai and Dr. Ruchi Pant, Head, NRM and Biodiversity, UNDP emphasized the global significance of the subject.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM indicated about integrating the ABS concept in the foundation courses and other capacity building programmes in the Academy for the senior functionaries.
The programme was aimed at providing the solutions related to crop sciences, animal sciences and fisheries sciences that facilitated the participants in better understanding of ABS implementation, process, status and challenges with reference to the agricultural research in country.
Around 80 participants from the ICAR and State Agricultural Universities from across the country participated in the MDP.
