The NICRA sponsored 10-day national training on ‘Natural Resource Management for Enhancing Climate Resilience in Mountain Ecosystems’ concluded on 19th February 2014 at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Sikkim Centre, Tadong, Gangtok.
Dr. K.K. Sathpathy, Former Director NIRJAFT, Kolkata and Professor, CAEPHT, Ranipool was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, Dr. Sathpathy signified the importance of climate change, its impact on agriculture and mitigating strategies. He urged scientists to develop climate management strategies for hilly ecosystems.
Dr. R.K. Avasthe, Joint Director, ICAR Sikkim Centre presided over the function. He highlighted the significance of this training programme in the era of climate change. He also appreciated the feedback from the participants and congratulated the Course Coordinators.
Earlier, Dr. Raghavendra Singh, Senior Scientist (Agronomy) welcomed the dignitaries and participants.
A total of 24 scientists/Assistant Professors/Researchers representing various disciplines of agricultural science from different states of the country participated in this training programme.
This programme was organized with the aim to build the capacity of the young learners from different institutions on climate change and its impact on agricultural productivity keeping eye upon the significant role in natural resources in agricultural production.
