ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, organized a farm input distribution-cum-awareness training programme on agrotechniques of medicinal and aromatic crops at Bardoli, Surat today the under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Surat.
The Chief Guest, Shri. Ishwarbahi Ramanbhai Parmar, MLA (Bardoli-Surat) highlighted that medicinal plant cultivation is an important sector of the farming communities as a livelihood source.
Dr. J. H. Rathod, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, Surat demonstrated the use of pheromone traps and its applications in pest management of horticultural crops.
Dr. Akula Chinapolaiah, Scientist and Chairman SCSP committee, DMAPR, briefed the about SCSP scheme activities, medicinal crop varieties and technologies for livelihood to the farmers and other stakeholders.
A total of 100 Scheduled Caste farmers and farm women from Surat district and staff of ICAR-KVI, Surat, participated in the programme.
