The ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad has organized the two-week High End Workshop on “Statistical and Machine Learning Techniques for Agricultural Systems Modeling and Forecasting using R” from 18th to 30th July, 2022. The Workshop has been organized in association with the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India under the KARYASHALA Scheme - a SERB Initiative.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Rajender Prasad, Director, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi stressed on the need for updating and applying the advances in the statistical tools and methodologies over the strong foundation on fundamental statistics.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. R.M. Sundaram, Director, ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad highlighted the importance of the training programme in the context of the increasing role of data sciences and its advanced methodologies.
The “KARYASHALA” is designed exclusively to improve the research productivity of promising Post-Graduate and Ph.D. Students from the Universities and Colleges through high-end workshops on specific themes. The Programme on Statistical and Machine Learning Techniques aims at providing the opportunities to acquire the specialized research skills and provide hands-on experience to the selected 25 Students (PG and Ph.D. Level) from 8 Disciplines primarily from the Universities, Colleges and Private Academic Institutions from 15 different States in India.
