ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, organises Krishi Mela - 2024

ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata organised a 3-day Krishi Mela - 2024 by Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute under the theme of ‘Drone Technology and Smart Agriculture’. The Mela showcased improved technologies for soil management, crop diversification, integrated farming, horticultural crops, farm mechanization, Animal Husbandry, ornamental fisheries, secondary agriculture, etc.

Swami Shastrajnanandaji Mj., Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, Swami Shivapurnanandaji Mj, Asstt Administrative Head and Vice Chairman, Sasya Shyamala KVK, RKMVERI, Prof. Tapas Dasgupta, Dean, IRDM F/c, RKMVERI, Dr. Kumaravel V., Head, National Institute of Homoeopathy were present during the programme.

A technical session on the theme ‘Drone Technology and Smart Agriculture’ was organised, which was presided by Dr. Pradip Dey, Director of ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata.

The National Institute of Homoeopathy in Kolkata organized a health camp for farmers, where physicians treated them and provided medication. The Central Bureau of Communication, India awarded rewards for correct farming questions and organized cultural events to highlight the benefits of Central Government programmes for the farmers.

The operation of drones and administering liquid fertilizers and pesticides using drones was demonstrated to the farmers for awareness. A total of 46 stalls were installed by ICAR Institutes, SLUSI, IFFCO, FPCs, NGOs, and State and Central government departments depicting different technologies and achievements were put up.

About 5000 farmers, farm women rural youths, and other stakeholders visited the Mela and participated in the Technical Sessions.
