ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa established a small-scale Ornamental Fish Culture Unit at Assonora, North Goa under the NABARD-funded project today.
ICAR-CCARI caters for the need-based research for fishermen/fish farmers in Goa and other coastal states. The scheme for the ornamental fish culture in the state of Goa was prepared with technical support from the institute. The unit will serve as a source of income livelihood for twenty women and youth in Assonora, North Goa.
The model also functions as a reference unit for promoting the start-up in ornamental fish culture in the coastal region. The Self-Help Group identified ornamental fish culture as a viable option for their livelihood in the region. ICAR-CCARI also assured whole technical support for developing ornamental fish culture units.
