ICAR-CENDECT, KVK, organises State-Level Conference

ICAR-Centre for Development and Education Trust, KVK, Theni, organized the State level conference for Farm Women, Women Entrepreneurs, Self Help Group Federations, and Mango Farmers Producer Organizations, today at the KVK Centre.

Shri. R.N. Ravi, Governor, Tamil Nadu, said that the country's 60% population is engaged in agriculture. He emphasised the low GDP and per capita income of the farmers and stressed the need for continuous support to them. Shri. Ravi urged TNAU and KVK to raise awareness about government schemes and loan schemes to improve farmers' economic status. The Tamil Nadu Governor accentuated that KVK Theni, plays a crucial role in disseminating the latest agriculture technologies for sustainable livelihoods. Three books on Recent Agriculture technologies were released by the Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri R.N.Ravi.

Dr. V.Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, highlighted the importance of farming for food security and motivated the women and farmers.

Dr. Shaik N Meera, Director, ICAR ATARI, Zone X, Hyderabad highlighted the role of KVKs activities for the sustainable livelihood of the farming community. He also emphasised the achievements of KVKs during the past five decades for the betterment of the farming community.

Dr. P. P. Muruan, Directorate of Extension Education, TNAU, Coimbatore spoke about the role of TNAU and KVKs services for the betterment of farmers and farm women and entrepreneurs. He also indicated that TNAU is playing a vital role in providing recent agriculture technologies to all KVKs of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the better implementation of KVK activities.

Dr. P. Patcbahimal, Chairman, ICAR KVK, CEDNDECT, Theni, Dr. P. Sivaram, Deputy Director, CENDECT, Theni, were present during the programme.
