ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai inked MoU with M/s. Siri Industries, Tumakuru, Karnataka for technology support to produce indigenous fish feeds on a consultancy basis. Presently, there is no fish feed mill in the state and the fish feeds are mostly bought from corporate feed mills located in neighboring states. Due to that, the cost of the feeds is relatively high, and regular availability to small and marginal fish farmers in the state is a challenge. CIBA has the technology for fish feed formulations and is branded as plus series of feeds. Considering the demand for cost-effective feeds for finfishes, M/s. Siri Industries approached ICAR- CIBA for technology support on fish feed formulations, processing and production and has entered into a MoU here today
Dr. K. Kuldeep Lal, Director CIBA underscored that this effort will undoubtedly improve the economic benefits, contribute to innovation and growth, and encourage sustainability and competitiveness in the aqua-feed sector in the longer run.
Dr. B. Vinod, Managing Partner of M/s. Siri Industries said the outcome of this MOU would help the small and medium fish farmers in the state of Karnataka.
