ICAR-CIBA inks MoU with M/s. Sri Krushna Feeds

ICAR-Central Institute for Brakishwater Aquaculture, Chennai, formed a strategic alliance under the Make in India programme for consultancy services on formulations, processing and production of indigenous shrimp and fish feeds with M/s. Sri Krushna Feeds, Odisha for the production of indigenous fish and shrimp feeds here today.

Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Lal, Director, CIBA, said that this effort will undoubtedly improve the economic benefits, contribute to innovation and growth, sustainability and competitiveness in the aqua-feed sector in the longer run.

Shri. Krushna Chandra Ghadai, CEO of Sri Krushna feeds, spoke about the expected outcome from the MoU.

Dr. K. Ambasankar, Principal Scientist and Head Nutrition Genetics and Biotechnology Division & team leader for the feed technology, briefed about the initiative's genesis in line with the Make in India programme.

At present the fish feeds used in Odisha are mostly coming from corporate feed mills with technology support from multinational firms/foreign consultants. The feeds are costlier and regular availability of the feed for the small and marginal farmers in Odisha is a challenge. Focused research efforts at CIBA over the last five years has resulted in the development of CIBA shrimp and Fish feeds and branded as plus series of feeds.
