ICAR-CIFRI Organized Industry Conclave at 13th IFAF

ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Assam, organised an Industry Conclave at the 13th Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum, in Biswa Bangla Convention Center, Kolkata, today. Twenty-five representatives from different industries related to fisheries and aquaculture participated in the conclave.

The Chief Guest, Shri. Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Government of India, emphasised the role of the Ministry and Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana in revolutionizing the fisheries sector in India. Shri. Mehra highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to foster the growth of the fisheries sector as a whole.

Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI and Convener, 13th IFAF emphasized the importance of industrial promotion and collaborative research and development in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Dr. Das briefed about the technologies and products developed by the ICAR-CIFRI and potential development in the sector. He further informed that the fisheries sector has experienced a 10% annual growth rate in the last decade, prompting calls for collaboration between industries and research institutions for technology and product development.

Dr. L. N. Murthy, Chief Executive (I/C), National Fisheries Development Board, Spoke about the initiatives taken by the National Fisheries Development Board for the development of the fisheries sector in India.

Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science) ICAR, Dr. George Ninan, Director, ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Shri. Amit Saraogi, Managing Director, Anmol Feeds Ltd. & Chairman, Livestock Task Force of Confederation of Indian Industries, and Dr. Ganesh Chandra, PI & in-charge, ITMU, were present during the programme.

Shri. Parshottam Rupala, and Dr. Himanshu Pathak, felicitated two industrial partners of ICAR-CIFRI M/s Glaucus Agrochem and M/s M R Aquatech during the inaugural session of the conclave.

A total of 150 participants attended the industrial conclave.
