ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute Regional Station, Modipuram, celebrated National Potato Day 2024, today. The event aimed to educate potato-producing farmers on advanced techniques in potato production through a Kisan Sangoshthi titled Advanced Technology in Potato Production in Potato Farming.
The Chief Guest, Shri. Amit Kumar Singh, Additional District Magistrate (Administration), expressed interest in the institute's research areas and shared farming experiences related to potato cultivation.
Dr. B. S. Tomar, Head, Division of Vegetable Science, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, and Dr. Alok Kumar, Head, Division of Social Science, ICAR-CPRI, Shimla, were present in the programme.
The Kisan Sangoshthi explored advanced potato production techniques, including improved varieties, cropping operations, plant protection, seed production, storage techniques, and natural farming practices. An exhibition showcased potato technologies developed by the institute, while a live demonstration highlighted potato technologies and drone technology in agriculture, with a specific focus on potato farming.
Over 400 potato growers, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives attended the event.
