ICAR-CRIDA organises skill development for tribal farmers under TSP

ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, conducted a five-day training programme for farmers from Adilabad District under TSP  on “Value addition and post-harvest technologies for Sustainable Livelihood in Dryland” from January 22nd-26th , 2024.

Dr. V.K Singh, Director ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, inaugurated the programme. Dr. Singh, emphasised on the value addition and processing increasing farmer’s income. He urged the farmers to learn different value addition techniques and processes and turn agriculture into profitable ventures.

Dr. Rajbir Singh, ADG (AAF & CC), Dr. K V Rao, Head DRM and Shri S.K Singh, Chief Administrative Officer, were also present on the occasion.

The training includes lectures, hands-on experience and exposure visits. Various topics are covered during the training programme. Farmers visited Hayathnagar Research Farm and Gunegal Research Farm for practical exercises on livestock production and management.

As a part of training programme various exposure visits were conducted for the farmers including ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, Millet processing unit of PJTSAU, Hyderabad and ICAR- Indian Institute of Oilseed Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad were exposed to various breed of poultry. Farmers were exposed to meat, millets and oilseed processing facilities.

The valedictory session was held on January 26th, 2024

The training programme was attended by 28 tribal farmers.
