ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad celebrated its 9th Foundation Day today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, and the Lieutenant Governor, Puducherry, Dr. SL Mehta, Former Deputy Director General (Edu.) ICAR, Former Vice-Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur, and Dr. Jacqueline d’Arros Hughes, Director General, ICRISAT were the Guests of Honours in the programme.
Dr. Soundararajan distributed awards and mementos to the best millet FPOs, Progressive millet Farmers, Millet entrepreneurs, and Certificates of Appreciation and mementos to the best staff of IIMR.
Shri P Prasad, Minister of Agriculture, Govt of Kerala, visited ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, and expressed interest in the development of millet entrepreneurship in Kerala.
National Science Day 2024 on the theme “Millets as Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat' was celebrated during the event. The participants attended the ‘Interactive Meet on the Indigenous Millets and Ethnomedicines of India and their conservation’ from 29th February – 2nd March 2024.
Online workshops focusing on Millets Primary Processing Units, Millet Value Addition, Millet Value Chain, and Government Initiatives were organised to aid FPOs promotion. ICAR-IIMR team conducted a millet awareness program at the Composite Hospital, CRPF, Hyderabad. Special training for the CRPF mess cooks was also conducted.
About 500 participants attended the programme.
