ICAR-IIPR virtually celebrates 28th Foundation Day

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh virtually celebrated its 28th Foundation Day today.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) praised the pulse scientists for achieving an average record production of 23 to 25 million tonnes of the pulses consecutively for the last 4 years. He urged the scientists to work for the farmers’ all round benefits. The Director General stressed on minimizing the production cost and bridging in the productivity gaps in pulses.
Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR applauded the Institute’s remarkable works and efforts for its all round development. He stressed that the farmers are the soul of a nation and being the owner of their land, they should be self-sustained to enable the country to be self-sufficient in pulses in near future.
Dr. N.P. Singh, Director, ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh stressed on the importance of pulses, current scenario, research activities and future strategies. He also highlighted the research advancements and priorities in achieving the self-sufficiency and nutritional security in pulses.
