ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar observed “World Water Day 2023” today on the theme “Accelerating Change to solve the Water and Sanitation Crisis” in collaboration with International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
The Chief Guest, Dr. A.K. Sikka, IWMI Representative-India & Principal Researcher, International Water Management Institute, New Delhi emphasized the sustainable use and management of water resources, enhancing water use efficiency and water productivity, various challenges encountered by our food systems, and the dire need for regional, national and global dialogues to address the water and sanitation issues to save our motherland. He also released a short video documentary on ‘Glimpses of ICAR-IIWM’.
Prof. Sudhindra Nath Panda, Vice Chancellor, CV Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar was the Guest of Honour, and Prof. Shekhar Muddu, Professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was the Guest Speaker (virtually).
Special talks were delivered by eminent start-ups like Dr. Rajul Maheshwari, CEO, SoilSens Company Ltd, Mumbai (virtually), and Mr. Dil Bahadur, State Head (Odisha), Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd, Bhubaneswar, besides experience-sharing by Shri Radhashyam Biswal, IIWM-mentored IARI-Innovative Farmer Award winner 2023 from Kanas, Puri, Odisha.
At the outset, Dr. Arjamadutta Sarangi, Director, ICAR-IIWM in his welcome address briefed about the importance of the Day,
The program was attended by over a hundred participants including scientists and staff of the institute, invited farmers, students, scholars, and media personnel.
