Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with Iaikyrshan Cluster Farmers Producer Multipurpose Cooperative Society LTM Bhoirymbong block of Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya and Division of Animal Health and Fisheries Sciences, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Umiam on Friday day dated 28 October 2022, with aim for National Campaign on Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari and Jal Shakti Abhiyan by organising Kisan Mela cum Animal Health Camp at Tyrso Village Ri Bhoi District. Around 500 farmers, SHGs and VOs member from the Tyrso and nearby village were present at the event. Various vitamins, mineral mixture and supplements were distributed to around 250 farmers during the occasion. About 21 SHGs were participated in the Mela to showcase their products. Best stall of exhibition was awarded with cash prizes of ₹ 7000, 6000, 5000, 4000 and 3000 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 2 consolidated prize, respectively. The first prize was awarded to Tehsong Village Organisation, Umtngam.


Dr CJK Warjri, Development Officer Bhoirymbong, the Chief Guest of the programme highlighted various initiative taken by the Block in implementing various scheme of the state and central government. He also lauded the efforts taken by ICAR-KVK Ri Bhoi and requested to conduct capacity building trainings and skill up gradation may for the people of this remote areas for their livelihood improvement.
Shri Charles Marngar, MDC Mawhati constituency, stressed on the need of having a clear understanding among the members of Iaikyrshan FPO and to contribute equity share generously for the betterment of the society as a whole. He urges the member to be vigilant and maintain transparency and accountability of the entire fund being received from various agencies. He also extends his appreciation to KVK Ri Bhoi for formation of this society at Tyrso.
Dr M Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist & Head KVK, Ri Bhoi cum organising secretary of Kisan Mela, gave a brief introduction of the Central Sector Scheme- Formation and promotion of 10,000 Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the whole country which is implemented by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and supported by KVK Ri Bhoi as Cluster Base Business Organisation. He also urged the farmers to register for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme through BDO for the benefit of ₹ 6000 /year/farmer.
Smt Juliana Sten, member of the FPO, welcomed the dignitaries, invitees and member of various SHGs, Village Organisations and Headmans. During her speech she elaborate how as a FPO they have faced problems in convincing farmers and SHGs member to join and contribute to the society and how they have overcome these challenges and turn one year old since the day of formation and registration under the office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Govt of Meghalaya
Dr Samir Das, Senior Scientist (Animal Health), ICAR Umiam gave an elaborate lecture on the importance of vaccination of all animal. He also explained about the importance of feed and feeding management of livestock for optimum growth and production.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Smt Iohilut Lyngdoh, President Iaikyrshan FPO.
