The program was inaugurated by Shri. Himanshu Yadav, Deputy Collector, Agatti Island. Shri. Yadav emphasised ‘Save the Sea’ from pollution/anthropogenic activities causing damage to marine biodiversity. He appreciated the efforts of NBFGR in livelihood development activities of the islanders, besides conserving biodiversity.

The program was aimed to bring together individuals, communities, and organisations to work collaboratively in cleaning up the coastal and island regions of the nation, raising awareness about marine litter pollution, and promoting sustainable practices for a healthier ocean ecosystem, with the message of “3R” (Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle).

ICAR-NBFGR organised the event on Agatti Island with three modules. 50 NCC students cleaned the beach alongside a rally with banners, the principal of the government higher secondary school gave a speech about environmental issues, and 46 beneficiaries connected to the NBFGR's community aquaculture units participated in clean-up efforts near the hatchery.
