ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organised a Hands-on Training and capacity development Programme on ‘Molecular Techniques for Fish Disease Diagnosis’ under the National Surveillance Programme on Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) for the officials of Aqua One Centres of National Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture (NaCSA) and young professionals of NSPAAD collaborating centre in Haryana during August 08-17, 2023.
The aim of the training was to enhance the skill and expertise of the participants in the diagnosis of shrimp diseases and to create awareness about the ongoing surveillance programme, the ReportFishDisease app, thereby strengthening of Aquatic Animal Disease Surveillance Programme.
Dr (Brig.) P. Jaiswal, Lucknow Cantonment Zone, was the Guest of Honour. In his address, he appreciated the efforts of the Institute in enhancing the capacity of the laboratory technicians involved in diagnostic testing and technical support to the shrimp farmers.
Dr. Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow, urged the participants to popularise the use of the ReportFishDisease App amongst the farmers and use the skills acquired during the training programme to mitigate the disease problems faced by the farmers.
