A two-day workshop-cum-capacity building Program on “Sustainable Agricultural Land Use Planning for Livelihood Improvement of Farming Community” under the SCSP project was organised by ICAR- National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, RC Kolkata with KVK, North 24 Pgs., Ashok Nagar, West Bengal to mark the celebration of World Soil Day 2023.
Prof. Biswapati Mandal, Ex. Pro Vice-Chancellor, BCKV Mohanpur, stressed upon the use of soil-based agro-technologies in adapting climate change-related salinity development in the Sunderbans region.
Dr. Gour Kumar Singha, emphasised the importance of such a collaborative initiative between ICAR and the State Government to reach out to farmers more effectively with a Government aided scheme.
Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head RC Kolkata, emphasised the significance of the SCSP project in promoting newer technological adaptation among small and marginal farmers.
A total of 80 participants including 30 farmers belonging to the scheduled caste category of Sunderbans Islands participated in the event.
