30th December 2020, Bengaluru
The lateral flow assay-based Diagnostic Kit for Human Brucellosis for Detecting Anti-Brucella IgM and IgG developed by the team of ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics, Bengaluru, Karnataka received the Indian Patent (Patent No. 354817) today.
The test kit is a combo of two tests, one strip each for detecting the anti-Brucella IgG and IgM simultaneously from human blood or serum samples. It is rapid, user-friendly and can be performed by minimally trained personnel. The test results are read within 5 to 10 minutes by visual inspection. The diagnostic kit will help the human health care centres to test suspected human samples for providing quick diagnosis of brucellosis. The test promises wider utility in brucellosis endemic countries, especially, India. The development of the indigenous diagnostic kit is a step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat.
