Newly rechristen ed ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad celebrated its 24th Foundation Day today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Ramachandra S.G., Director, ICMR-National Animal Resource Facility for Biomedical Research, Hyderabad appreciated the efforts of ICAR-NMRI scientists for bridging the gap between farmers, meat processors and entrepreneurs with significant lab-to-land programs. He congratulated the whole staff for the upgradation from NRC on Meat to National Meat Research Institute.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Amrish Kumar Tyagi, ADG (AN&P), ICAR, Delhi lauded the achievements of the institute in all horizons of the meat value chain. He opined that ICAR-NMRI is immensely contributing for the betterment of all stakeholders like farmers, entrepreneurs, industry, policy makers and students.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI Hyderabad, praised various research, training, and entrepreneurial development activities of the institute. He highlighted the importance of processing, storage, and branding of meat products and appreciated the ongoing efforts of NMRI scientists in this regard. He urged the institute to initiate women-focused programs and implement socio-economic and cultural aspects in meat sector.
In his welcome address, Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, NMRI highlighted the significant activities and achievements of ICAR-NMRI in the past one year. He appreciated the contributions and commitment of all staff members for taking the institute to newer heights.
On this occasion, several entrepreneurs who have successfully established their startups with the help of the institute were felicitated. Further, women entrepreneurs and veterinary officers who facilitated the implementation of Development Action Plan for SCs (DAPSC) scheme were also felicitated. Best performing employees of ICAR-NMRI in various categories were also honored by the dignitaries.
One technology on “Frozen haleem balls” developed under MoFPI project was successfully commercialized to M/s Indbro Poultry Breeding Farm Pvt. Ltd.
Several technical documents were also released by the dignitaries.
The program was attended by stakeholders and officials from Telangana State Animal Husbandry Department.
