The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna celebrated its “21st Foundation Day” today.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR virtually delivered the Foundation Day Lecture. He applauded the ICAR-RCER’s performance during the COVID-19 scenario. The DDG stressed on increasing and scaling out the impact of Institute’s research in the field of rice fallow management and conservation agriculture in collaboration with the State Governments and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Dr. Chaudhary emphasised on development of Makhana value-chain and business models through formation of FPOs and farm entrepreneurships.
The Bulletin on Makhana value-chain and Institute’s Hindi Magazine “Akhay Kheti” were also released by the Chief Guest.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director, ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar highlighted the achievements of ICAR-RCER during the last year.

Dr. Anjani Kumar, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Patna, Bihar emphasized on enhancing the farmer’s income by adopting new technologies and marketing.
Around 12 Progressive Farmers from Bihar and Jharkhand were also awarded for their contributions in agriculture during the occasion.
Nearly 200 farmers from Bihar and neighbouring states were distributed the quality seeds of new rice varieties - Swarna Shreya, Swarna Shakti and Swarna Samridhhi.
More than 500 farmers including scientists and officials participated in the event.
