The 32nd Annual Review Meeting of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Weed Management commenced at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior today.
Guest of Honor, Dr S. Bhaskar, Former Assistant Director General (Agronomy, Agroforestry & Climate Change), ICAR, lauded the contributions of AICRP-WM. He urged scientists to explore emerging areas such as carbon sequestration, carbon credit systems, and conservation agriculture.
Dr A.K. Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, RVSKVV, Gwalior, who addressed the growing threat of invasive and noxious weeds. He urged intensified coordinated research and innovation in farm mechanization, especially in the context of Regenerative, Organic, and Natural Farming. He also called for enhanced focus on both basic and strategic weed science research.
Dr S.K. Sharma, Director, Research Services, RVSKVV, stressed the importance of efficient weed management in achieving sustainable agricultural productivity.
On the occasion, 15 publications were released, and the Best Centre Award for 2024 was conferred upon the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Thrissur Centre in recognition of its outstanding contributions.
