Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) Inaugurated

The one-year Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers’ Programme was inaugurated at the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North 24 Parganas (West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences), West Bengal today.
Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, highlighted the transformative impact of the DAESI scheme in connecting scientific knowledge with grassroots farming. He emphasized its role in ensuring that even the most remote farming communities receive timely, science-based guidance. Dr. Dey stressed that DAESI-trained professionals will play a crucial role in improving farm productivity, reducing environmental impact, and boosting rural livelihoods over time. He envisioned these professionals as advocates of sustainable agriculture, focusing on soil fertility conservation, water efficiency, and genetic diversity.
Prof. B.K. Chand, Joint Director, Research, emphasized the importance of equipping each input dealer with the necessary knowledge to provide scientifically sound advisory services to farmers. He expressed confidence that the course would empower input dealers to support farmers more effectively.
Dr Chinmoy Maji, Dr Kaushik Pal and Dr P.K. Pathak, SMS, KVK, 24 Parganas coordinated the programme.
A total of 80 Agri-Input Dealers attended the programme.
