ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri Bhoi, formally launched and flagged off the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan – Bharat Krishi Jagran Yatra: Anusandhan Kisan Ke Dwar as a pre-Kharif campaign on 29 May 2025.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ghatak, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, who also flagged off three Krishi Raths in the presence of over 100 participants.
The campaign aims to bridge the gap between agricultural research and farming communities by taking scientific knowledge directly to farmers’ fields. The three Krishi Rath teams covered nine villages reaching out to around1,082 farmers.
Each Krishi Rath was equipped with public address systems broadcasting messages by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with agro-advisories, printed educational materials, and live demonstrations on relevant technologies.
Farmers were sensitized on key practices such as soil health management, nursery and water conservation, climate-resilient technologies, natural farming, mushroom production, composite fish culture, off-season vegetable cultivation, vermicomposting, integrated farming systems, animal health management, and resource conservation.
Technologies like seedling root-dipping in SSP-CAU Bio-enhancer slurry and application of CAU-Bioenhancer plus Um-Comb in organic rice cultivation were also showcased to enhance farm productivity and income.
