Farmers-Scientist Interaction Programme and Field Visit at Goa Velha

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, under ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organized a Farmers-Scientist Interaction Programme at Goa Velha, today aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practices of local farmers.
The experts-led session focused on the scientific management of piggery and goat farming. He stressed the importance of adopting biosecurity measures to prevent the outbreak of various diseases that can affect livestock, providing valuable insights to farmers on maintaining healthier, more productive animals.
Topics related to vegetable cultivation and paddy nursery management were discussed. Guidance on disease and insect management in vegetables and shared effective methods for managing Mango Mealy Bugs, a common pest affecting mango crops in the region was also provided.
As part of the programme, ICAR-KVK experts visited the piggery farm of Smt Berta and the vegetable fields of Shri Agnelo. During these visits, they offered personalized advice on implementing biosecurity measures and integrated pest management strategies, ensuring that farmers received practical, hands-on guidance.
A total of 8 farmers, including 2 female and 6 male participants, benefited from the programme, gaining valuable insights that they can directly apply to their farming practices.
The event was effectively coordinated by Dr Udharwar S. V. and Shri Rahul Kumar.
